What are YOU seeking?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Jesus is departing, after meeting his cousin John and being baptized by him. He notices two disciples following Him. Jesus turns around and asks: What are you seeking?” (John 1:38) KJV.   It is a question meant for all men of every time and in all places and situations.

The reply given by Jesus—“Come, and you will see”—is, like so many of His statements, loaded with multiple meanings on different levels. On the material level, the disciples did follow and see where He dwelt. But on a deeper, spiritual level, they entered into a relationship—Teacher and disciples—that eventually revealed to them a shocking truth: Jesus is the Word, who “was with God” and who “is God” before the beginning of creation (John 1:1-3). The One who now dwelt among men was one with the Father, and had been sent to call men to Himself, to seek and to save.

What are you looking for today?

Are you looking for bread, for the basic needs of life? Jesus is the bread (John 6:35).
Are you looking for enlightenment? I am the light (John 8:12).
Are you looking for hope in the darkness of this world? I am the light of the world (John 8:12).
Are you looking for the way to live? I am the way. (John 14:6).
Are you looking for the truth? I am … the truth (John 14:6).
Are you looking for an abundance of life? I am … the life (John 14:6).
Are you looking for meaning in the face of death? I am the resurrection (John 11:25).
Are you hoping for life after death? I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).

Whatever you are seeking, whether the bare necessities of life, a sense of belonging and meaning, life after death, or the truth about the universe, and most importantly, if you are seeking eternal life with the Father, the answer rests in Jesus.  He is the ONLY way!

If you don’t know Him, invite Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior, today!

“Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, that You died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. I choose now to turn from my sins, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that does not please You.  I receive Your forgiveness and ask You to take Your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord. Come reign in my heart, fill me with Your love and Your life, and help me to become like You. Restore me, Jesus. Live in me. Love through me. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen”.
